Modeling can be a glamorous and exciting profession, and that glamour and excitement are only heightened when modeling overseas. Here are a few tips on modeling in foreign countries.

Obtain the Proper Paperwork: When modeling overseas, you will most likely have to obtain a working visa in order to work in another country. Be sure you allow yourself enough time to apply for the visa before you travel, and also make sure that your passport is current. You may also need to obtain a sponsor or employer in the country to which you are traveling.

Do Your Research: Before signing with a modeling agency or representative overseas, be sure and check and doublecheck their credentials to make sure they are above board. Also, be wary of anyone who insists that you pay any “visa fees” or other fees up front.

Reap the Benefits: Modeling in another country can be very rewarding. Models will be able to gain invaluable experience, compile numerous tear sheets for their book, make new friends, and visit some of the most beautiful and exciting cities in the world.

Get everything in writing.  It would be ideal if your American or home country agency has a relationship with the foreign one.
