Although many grow discouraged about the political system because it seems their vote has so little effect, becoming politically active can involve a great deal more than simply voting. Obtain the Proper Paperwork: When modeling overseas, you will most likely have to obtain a working visa in order to work in another country. Be sure you allow yourself enough time to apply for the visa before you travel, and also make sure that your passport is current. You may also need to obtain a sponsor or employer in the country to which you are traveling.

Do Your Research: Before signing with a modeling agency or representative overseas, be sure and check and doublecheck their credentials to make sure they are above board. Also, be wary of anyone who insists that you pay any “visa fees” or other fees up front.

Reap the Benefits: Modeling in another country can be very rewarding. Models will be able to gain invaluable experience, compile numerous tear sheets for their book, make new friends, and visit some of the most beautiful and exciting cities in the world.

Get everything in writing.  It would be ideal if your American or home country agency has a relationship with the foreign one.

The March of Dimes Foundation Celebrates 75th Anniversary

White Plains, New York (February, 2013) – This year, the March of Dimes Foundation celebrates 75 years of helping mothers achieve full-term pregnancies and researching the issues that affect the health of  infants. As a nonprofit organization, the March of Dimes relies on its many supporters, including former national ambassador Morgan Brittany, to continue with its mission.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 500,000 babies in the United States—which equates to one out of eight infants—are born prematurely each year. Approximately 23 million babies around the world are affected by birth defects and premature birth, while more than 4 million die as a result of these conditions.

Since 1938, the March of Dimes has helped provide medical resources and educational materials to mothers and caregivers regarding how to achieve both optimal perinatal health and full-term pregnancies.

Actress Morgan Brittany’s involvement with the March of Dimes Foundation spans two decades. As a national ambassador, she traveled the country to raise awareness and funds for the prevention of birth defects. She continues to support the March of Dimes to this day. Morgan Brittany: The March of Dimes Celebrates 75 Years of Healthy Babies

In 2013, the March of Dimes celebrates 75 years of helping bring healthier babies into the world. Through a combination of maternal education, vaccinations, research, and medical breakthroughs, the nonprofit aids some 4 million infants, and their mothers, every year.

The March of Dimes was founded in 1938 by then-President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. While its original mission was to fight polio—a disease that the President contracted as an adult—the organization funded more than polio vaccinations. It supported groundbreaking research, including work by James D. Watson, who was part of the Nobel prize-winning team credited with decoding the double helix of DNA. It also funded research that led to better prenatal diagnosis of sickle cell anemia. In the years that followed, it advocated for increased health screening in newborns and educated women about the importance of a healthy diet while pregnant. More recently, the organization has turned its attention to stopping the increasing numbers of preterm births.
