Morgan Brittany is an actress and political commentator. She currently appears on Politichicks, an online political web series, and is a contributor to the Town Hall Finance website. Though Morgan Brittany enjoys her career, she understands that the entertainment industry isn’t all roses. Actors and actresses face incredibly difficult odds when auditioning for roles, as well as some of the following challenges:

– Actors face barriers to joining the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). Most movie and television networks will only cast SAG actors as it’s in their financial interest to do so. However with the merger of the two unions, SAG and AFTRA, it has become easier for performers to join. With the abundance of media outlets these days, there are also many non-union jobs available. Online casting services offer submissions for web-only series and low budget films which tend to be non-union. These jobs are often very low paying.

– Though the public tends to hear about the exorbitant salaries of Hollywood’s top-paid performers, acting generally isn’t lucrative for the majority of actors. In fact, the median hourly wage for American actors was just $17.44 when data was released in 2010. Recently it was revealed that being an actor was the fourth worst paying job in America.

Though these challenges and more are realities for those in the entertainment industry, people may still flock to available jobs, as the industry continues to grow in revenue and content offerings.

In addition to her time as an actor, Morgan Brittany spent many years modeling throughout the world in locations such as Tokyo and other foreign cities. Morgan Brittany is active as a field journalist and political commentator, and she works with Politichicks.tv.

Certainly an exciting endeavor, modeling on an international scale stands out as a dream for many young women. While the far-off places and intriguing locations can prove to be intoxicating, it remains incredibly important to stay safe while traveling and to pay attention to important details.

Public Transport: Get an idea for the modes of transportation in your destination city beforehand. Depending upon your range of travel, certain methods may be more preferable than others. Knowing time schedules and main routes is helpful as well.

Communication: Pick up a dictionary or phrase book that can help you to communicate when you are in places where people speak a different language. Just knowing a few words can make a huge difference. Also, make sure any phone you receive is charged and ready to use in your destination.

Awareness: Always be aware of your surroundings and safety. Avoid walking around cities alone at night, and stay in well-lit areas.

An actress who has appeared in a wide variety of films and television shows, Morgan Brittany has worked in Hollywood since her childhood. Alongside her career, she pursues her interest in political activism as a conservative spokesperson.

Although many grow discouraged about the political system because it seems their vote has so little effect, becoming politically active can involve a great deal more than simply voting. Beyond the basics of understanding current legislative issues and casting your ballot as an educated voter, you can also make your voice heard in other ways, such as through online venues and by contacting your local senators and representatives.

If you understand the substantive issues and believe strongly in a certain position, this already puts you at a distinct advantage in working to effect change in the political system. Even if you cannot persuade others to your position, you can encourage them to think and discuss the issues. You never know how effective your letter to a representative or senator may be, nor who you may touch through networking online.

Remember, your vote means your future and the future of your children. Stay involved, know the issues that matter to you and support your candidates.

However, if you find these methods insufficient, you might well consider volunteering for a political candidate. Find a candidate you would like to support and become involved in the campaign. Or you might even consider running for a local office yourself.

Modeling can be a glamorous and exciting profession, and that glamour and excitement are only heightened when modeling overseas. Here are a few tips on modeling in foreign countries.

Obtain the Proper Paperwork: When modeling overseas, you will most likely have to obtain a working visa in order to work in another country. Be sure you allow yourself enough time to apply for the visa before you travel, and also make sure that your passport is current. You may also need to obtain a sponsor or employer in the country to which you are traveling.

Do Your Research: Before signing with a modeling agency or representative overseas, be sure and check and doublecheck their credentials to make sure they are above board. Also, be wary of anyone who insists that you pay any “visa fees” or other fees up front.

Reap the Benefits: Modeling in another country can be very rewarding. Models will be able to gain invaluable experience, compile numerous tear sheets for their book, make new friends, and visit some of the most beautiful and exciting cities in the world.

Get everything in writing.  It would be ideal if your American or home country agency has a relationship with the foreign one.

White Plains, New York (February, 2013) – This year, the March of Dimes Foundation celebrates 75 years of helping mothers achieve full-term pregnancies and researching the issues that affect the health of  infants. As a nonprofit organization, the March of Dimes relies on its many supporters, including former national ambassador Morgan Brittany, to continue with its mission.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 500,000 babies in the United States—which equates to one out of eight infants—are born prematurely each year. Approximately 23 million babies around the world are affected by birth defects and premature birth, while more than 4 million die as a result of these conditions.

Since 1938, the March of Dimes has helped provide medical resources and educational materials to mothers and caregivers regarding how to achieve both optimal perinatal health and full-term pregnancies.

Actress Morgan Brittany’s involvement with the March of Dimes Foundation spans two decades. As a national ambassador, she traveled the country to raise awareness and funds for the prevention of birth defects. She continues to support the March of Dimes to this day. Currently, she serves as an anchor on PolitiChicks.tv.

In 2013, the March of Dimes celebrates 75 years of helping bring healthier babies into the world. Through a combination of maternal education, vaccinations, research, and medical breakthroughs, the nonprofit aids some 4 million infants, and their mothers, every year.

The March of Dimes was founded in 1938 by then-President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. While its original mission was to fight polio—a disease that the President contracted as an adult—the organization funded more than polio vaccinations. It supported groundbreaking research, including work by James D. Watson, who was part of the Nobel prize-winning team credited with decoding the double helix of DNA. It also funded research that led to better prenatal diagnosis of sickle cell anemia. In the years that followed, it advocated for increased health screening in newborns and educated women about the importance of a healthy diet while pregnant. More recently, the organization has turned its attention to stopping the increasing numbers of preterm births.

About Morgan Brittany: A former National Ambassador for the March of Dimes Foundation, Morgan Brittany remains active in the organization and other charities. A well-known conservative spokesperson, she also contributes to Politichicks.tv and Town Hall Finance.
